RED HILL HOUSE (White Model)

We are very excited to share the next stage of the Red Hill House, from sketches to white model.

Red Hill House is equal parts luxury lifestyle and simple retreat. A classic, site-specific home inspired by a 3D printer's ability to create complex structures. The design combines the shape of a double helix expressed through the delicately curved staircase with a simple external form referencing classical Italian architecture.

Because of its northern orientation, we were able to design a simple structure that would withstand the test of time, even embrace an often harsh climate. While the exteriors are traditional, the interiors are modern, clean, and soft, with an inviting colour palette that creates a variety of atmospheres demarcated by the double helix. The movement up and down the tactile walls, creates a richly varied experience that immerses the visitor in quiet, calm spaces, cool and warm rooms.

The result is an elegant home for modern living that sits comfortably on the site and reflects the client's aspiration and personal taste.

Alexander Hill

Awarded the Architects Board of South Australia Prize in 2001, I began my career in Melbourne in 2002. In 2007 I started my practice with a beach house in Queenscliff. Intent on focusing on private dwellings, I continued working with builders to understand how to better implement an architectural design, which ultimately led to my own builder’s license. In 2015 I joined Destination Living to work on scaling the architect-builder model. Finally, in 2021 I pulled it all together to open my one-person office.
